I prefer the IE toolbars to be displayed with text labels. When I choose that option, it works once. But as soon as IE opens a new window, or I quit and re-enter IE later, the labels are gone. How can I get IE to "remember" my preferences?

Thanks,

Warren

Before performing your customizations right click on any of the Toolbars and deselect 'Lock the toolbars' to unlock them.

When done making your changes then lock them again.

Thanks, but there is no such option. Any other suggestions?

How about IE's menu 'View', Toolbars, and just above Customize? Is "Lock the Toolbars" found there?

I believe IE5.5 has this and if yours does not then perhaps a repair of IE will fix it.

Go to Start, Settings, Control Panel, Add/Remove, Microsoft Internet Explorer; click Remove and then you should get a dialog box with the oprion to Repair.

Or, go to Start, Run, msinfo32, hit Ok.
Tools, Internet Explorer repair tool.

If still no joy then may I recommend upgrading to IE6sp1 as I find it about 15% faster than IE5.5 was. It also has a couple of features that were not part of IE5.5.
