I have a problem with a mapped network drive from a logon script. The server is running 2000 server sp4. On the client (98se and xp pro) the mapped drives are coming up as local disk instead of the share name.
I worked out it is getting the label from the hard drive on the server but have no idea of how to fix it.
The shares from the main server (used for logons) are not working. On another 2000 server the drives have their correct label.
Any ideas would be much appreciated.

Dose such problem happen on some clients or all clients?
Can you map from the main server (used for logons) by manualy?
On you Login Scrpt try add "use s: /delete /persistent" head of Map command.

The problem occurs on all clients.

If you map the drive manually (not from logon script) the label does not come up.

When I get back to work I will try deleting persistent connections. I don’t think that it will help because there are no persistent connections.

I formatted a computer and installed Windows 98SE. The first time I logged into the network the drives labels were not coming up properly. This could mean it is a problem with server.

The problem has been fixed. One of the latest Microsoft patches (Windows Updates) has fixed the problem. I am not sure which one.
