Does anyone have any experiences, about running Windows 2000, IIS and also SQL Server with Hyperthreading enabled? Is there a performance increased? How much performance increase it there (if any). Thanks for any feedback.

Hyperthreading is not recommended for W2K. It can run on W2K but is not optimized. HP recommend not enabling hyperthreading with W2K.

What about if it is a Windows 2000 Server? Will it give an increase in performance when running applications such SQL or IIS? Compared with system which runs the same applications but with HT disable.

None of the W2K versions are recommended for hyperthreading.

For Windows 2003 server you will see the benefits of hyperthreading.

it might help, but your network infrastructure is where your speed bumps are. with IIS computer speed is usually not the problem with 1ghz or better but often network congestion can cause serious slow downs.

what programs or techniques do you use to optimize and secure IIS and SQL?
