View Full Version : system policies
I want to use system policies with windows 95 machines at a school of >1200 pupils but whenever someone logs on the computer tells them that they have never logged on there before, do thay want to create a profile on the computer. I do NOT want them all having profiles on the machines - they have very small hard drives, and they are locked down so that they couldn't change anything even if they wanted to. Is there a setting to tell the computer that the answer to the question is always no? (Done a search but found nothing)
Thank you for your time.

There is, I'm just not sure where it is. I know because I've disabled it before. Go into regedit and do a search for "profiles". One of the profiles keys, under microsoft, has a value called "installed" . Change the setting from 0x00000001 to 0x00000000. That should eliminate profiles. Back up your reg files first though!! It's been a while, and I'm working off memory here... :)

You need System Policy Editor (poledit.exe) to edit policies.

I am using system policy editor to edit the policies, but it still asks if the user wants to store the profile on the local computer every time they log on...
