Occationally, I will lose my internet connection (my computer cannot connect to dhcp server).

At this point, my computer provides me another ip (internal...a 192.168 number), for which this ip could be either a piece of software on my comp running a dhcp server (not certain), or someone else connecting through my comp from the same subnet (I have cable internet), or just the ip given by windows when no ip from a dhcp can be located).

Circumstances:
I try connecting to my home computer via VNC vpn through my zap firewall. Most times the connection is okay, then occationally, my comp stops the internet connection.

In trying to resolve this issue (connection to dhcp server) I have tried the following:
-turning off the zap service upon restart
-reinstalling network adapters
-rolling back and reinstalling adapter drivers (though the adapter is not the problem I believe because tcp/ip is still working at this time)
-running check disk

The one thing that I haven't tried was stopping the ICS service and restarting.

So, after all this...any suggestions as to what the problem might be??
