I have setup a 2 machine network at home through a hub, no internet sharing. One running XP Pro and the other running XP Home. I’m having trouble sharing files of the XP Pro machine. I can share the CD-Rom, Zip and floppy drive of both machines plus , the printer.. Just can’t seem to get folders or hard drives to share. There are times I cannot get the Home files that I have created to share from the Pro machine.

First off,
Thanks to everyone that gave me suggestions/advice for correcting my problem.

One of these I think was causing my problem.
1. Went to www.practicallynetworked.com/ and followed their directions on file sharing. It’s possible that I screwed something up there.
2. I have had XP Pro running for a long time. Looking back in some of the stuff I write when I make changes I noticed I did get into “services.mcs” and made changes but I don’t recall which. I’m leaning more towards I changed a setting in "services.msc".
Anyway got a good deal on a bigger hard drive put that in and installed Pro on it, everything working fine now on that end.

However, now when I get on the internet (dial-up) I can surf around for a while and then I get a message as follows”
“ Windows must restart because Remote Procedure Call services terminated unexpectedly.” “ Shut down was initiated by NT Authority System.”
Hopefully this problem is simple!!

That RPC shutdown is the Nachi worm. You need to run Windows Update and get the patches in place. When it tries to shutdown, open a command prompt and type in shutdown -a
