I just reloaded windows 98 se, because I was getting illegal operations a bit to frequently. Now, when I boot up the PC it does not give me the option to login to my domain. It simply boots to the desktop. If I go to start > log off. I can logon like usual, and everthing works fine. All the Network Settings are configured properly, and I have seen this problem before on other windows 98 se. machines. I can sometimes get it to work fine by just removing 'client for microsoft networks,' then adding it back. Not this time! There must be a setting in the registry that is not telling it to come up when the machine boots.
HELP!

There are alot of possibilities.

1. Why not just delete all *.pwl files from c:\windows annd open c:\windows\system.ini, under [Passsword Lists] remove all names.
Reboot. If not, try the next step

2. [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\NETWORK\LOGON]
If not, create a DWORD value under the Logon key named MustBeValidated and give it a value of 1

3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\software\microsoft\windows\curr ent version\network\real mode net\autologon

Change the value from "01 00 00 00" to "00 00 00 00".

as reghakr said there are a lot of possibilities but another one is make sure in the network screen the primary network logon on is the correct logon option make sure it is not "Windows logon"

Make sure "LMLogon" is set to =hex:10,00,00,00 and that Client for Microsoft Networks is selected as the primary network logon.

[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Network\Logon]
"username"="dad"
"PolicyHandler"="GROUPPOL.DLL,ProcessPolicies"
"PrimaryProvider"=""
"LMLogon"=hex:10,00,00,00

reboot
