My machine started acting funny after I installed the express sp4, including failure to boot normally. I am able to boot with the emergency floppy. I have removed sp4, which solved the other problems, but not the boot problem.

When the computer boots w/o the floppy it boots to an error screen

"Trap 00000D General Protection Fault
tr 0028 cr0=00000011 cf2=00000000 cr3=00000008

gdt limits=03FF base=00017000 idt= limit=07FF base=00017400

there's more, if that will help. The message on the screen is the same both ways - w/or w/o sp4.

Thanks for your help.

Looks like a problem with the hard drive it self, I donīt know what kind of hard drive you are using, but check the hard disk drivers see if there are some new ones that you can download and also check if your RAM memory is okej.

Faulty RAM can sometimes create general proctection faults.

I don't know if this help, but it did for me before.
After installing SP4, I got that similar error where WIN2K won't boot, and I got that Stop Fault error (blue screen).

I insert the WIN2K CD installation and did a Reinstall WIN2K (not repair or upgrade installation, but an overwrite installation). And the WIN2K went back to normal.
