View Full Version : Graphics Application Load Failure (W2K)

I am currently experiencing problems under Windows 2000 (SP3) where after a random period after logging in, graphical type programs (eg. Photoshop / Adobe Acrobat / MS Multimedia player) fail to load.
When first logged in everything is fine, but after (sometimes as short as five minutes) starting up a new application it freezes a few megs into the loading process (as detailed in the Task Manager). Killing off the task and retrying doesn't make any difference.
I thought it was to do with my new Canon Scanner (8000F) Software drivers. Uninstalling these drivers seems to improve matters, but now after loading Acrobat 6, the problem seems to have returned, although the time before failure is longer. Probably suggesting that the Canon Software removal did not completely solve the problem.
Once in this state I need to reboot to return to normal again. I've tried starting/stopping/restarting all the various services that are running, but once in this state I cannot get it to return to normal.
I don't use W2K for internet access, and have checked for viruses, and everythings fine. This one has really got me stumped. I'd be greatful for any suggestions.

Regards

Phd.
