I am having a problem with my Internet Explorer that I really need help with. When I go into Tools/Internet Options/Connections/LAN Settings there is an address in the "Use Automatic Configuration Script" address field that I cannot seem to get rid of. The field is grayed out and everytime I click on the "use script" box and erase the entry and then click OK and then go back into the LAN Settings, the address field is mysteriously filled back in with the same info that was there before. This is preventing me from accessing my online banking. Does anyone know where this address comes from so I can delete it?

Did the Network administrator disable it?

Here's a possibility, although I don't know how it got set.
Go to Start>Run, type regedit. Navigate to:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Inte rnet Explorer\Control Panel]
if these two values exist and have a value of 1, change them to 0.
Connwiz Admin Lock
Connection Settings

I'd suggest you get hold of rogers
and/or also try the IE5 repair feature. Go to Start>Run, type msinfo32. On the Tools menu, choose Internet Explorer Repair Tool.
If it isn't there, go to Start>Run, type rundll32 setupwbv.dll,IE5Maintenance
I had problems with IE5.5 when I had it.

I tried the repair tool with no luck. I also had this problem before I upgraded to 5.5 from 5.0.

I have been playing with this all week and FINALLY have the solution. I replaced the "wininet.dll" file in C:\Windows\System (after backing it up) with one from a friends machine that was also running Win98SE with IE5.5 and presto everything works fine. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions and help.
