Hi,
I'm running windows XP prof.
A program "BackWeb" was sneaky installed on the PC (by means of Logitech Wireless keyboard) and this program
was blocking web access like FTP, etc.
After figuring this out, removing BackWeb, and cleaning
the registry manually, my system can acces the web
as before (FTP, telnet, http, etc.).
But now I have no longer "Computers Near Me" under
"My Nework Places" and "Entire Network - Microsoft
Windows Network" only shows my PC and not all the rest of the PC's on the network.
For "Computers Near Me"
- I've applied the registry hack from this web site
---> No result, still doesn't work.
For "Microsoft Windows Network"
- Other computers can see my machine.
- I can ping them, mount them in explorer, etc.
- Printing to a network connected printer is OK.
What does it make that these things don't work ??
Extra : I'm working on a subnet of a big network,
and when I start a second machine on this sub-net,
a Win2K machine who works without problems, suddenly
my XP machine can view the network and PCs connected to
it.
When I stop that other machine, it's like before, only
my own PC.
It's like when attaching an other PC on this subnet
opens a door for the XP machine.
Somebody any clue what this might be ?
Kind regards,
Marc
