View Full Version : Why can't I hide drive "C:" with NoDrives ? (WME)

(Edited later) Ok, my original post is below, but I have since done a bit of research and determined that the reason I am unable to "hide" Drive C: is because it is my "System" drive. Is there another way to do it via a Registry Tweak?

(My Original Post)

Drive "C:" does not show up in "My Computer" but when I expand "My Computer" (Explore) it shows, along with all it's contents. I am able to hide other drives from view, why not drive c: ? I even tried setting the "NoDrives" (DWORD) Value in HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curre ntVersion\Policies\Explorer\ to 03FFFFFF (67108863 Decimal), which should have hidden ALL my drives - I could STILL see drive c: (not the other drives). What am I doing wrong?

it might be because you have system privledges...try looking at mycomputer/explorer again with a restricted account....i think that admin accounts can see system drives regardless of what that particular registry entry says.

there are ways to hide it completely...but i can't think of them right now and why would you want to anyway?
