dropped registry screen (WXP-Pro)

Trying to repair a worm and can't get the registry screen to stay up more than a couple of seconds at most. Using the Norton guides to rid a w32 worm. Have to get into the regedit to fix it but the screen keeps disapearing. Any Thoughts?

Then you have still the worm in your system. Maybe the worm is in the system restore area and therefore is coming back again. What about if you copy regedit.exe as different name like editreg.exe or foobar.com. Can you then keep registry editor open?
