View Full Version : Retain Print Jobs in Queue? (W98)

My Win98SE machines are now printing via TCP/IP directly to the HP JetDirect print servers. As a result, there is no longer a central store of print jobs as there was when sharing the printer from a NT server.

I cannot find a setting anywhere that will allow me to set the Win98 machines to retain the print jobs after printing as I can on NT/2K. The print jobs print out then promptly disappear from the queue. Can I retain the Win98 print jobs for review or re-print?

I don't know if this will work using a print server [does on a computer-attached printer] but there usually is a setting in Printers, Properties of each printer, Advanced tab and a place to check "Keep printed documents".

Good judgement comes from experience, and experience comes from bad judgement

The print servers (dedicated devices or printer expansion cards, not computers) have no storage of their own, RAM only. Print jobs are sent to the devices directly via TCP and spooled locally, no central managing computer anymore.

The spooled jobs are retained on the 2K and NT client machines using the method you mentioned, but the 98 machines have no such option that I can find. I was wondering if I had missed something or if there were any third-party options I couldn't find.
