start menu doesn't respond, or does, but it takes 3 mins. possible causes are virus, but Norton, and trojan remover both scanned system clean and spybot removed all the little spies. still freezing up SLOW RESPONSE windows explorer crashes too much

could you run a HiJack scan and paste the results here? it sounds like you've got a nasty BHO...

or, if you've recently installed the Blaster worm protection update, you might've accidentally caused an event error (check your logs). it's usually a 1000 error tho, which doesn't affect your start menu...with MicroSoft, anything is possible...

i doubt the virus hypothesis tho.
