In the registry I found the key to change the names of the panels MIDI, Line In, Speakerphone, etc. What I can't figure out is how the order of appearance is determined. I would like both CD rom drives next to each other.
Any ideas?

The keys are all in the following folder:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/system/current control set/services/class/media/0000/config

NameAllWave "All Waves"
NameAux "CD N:Drive" (changed by me, did read "Aux")
NameCD "CD M:Drive"
NameLine "Line In"
NameMicrophone "Microphone"
NameMidi "MIDI"
