Would like to delete photos from memory (system is getting slow again). I'm a novice, and need step by step instrux. HOw do I call up a list of images stored? How can I tell if they are photos or something else? Is there a way to view a file to see what it is? How do I delete? If your instrux say click, please tell me left or right (Yeh, I'm that much of a beginner.) (Last time this happened, a friend deleted the files for me, but I neglected to write down what he did.)

Photos stored on your hard drive will not slow your system down.

What are you running?
500MHz processor with 128mb RAM or what?

How large a hard drive do you have and how much free space is available? Double click on My Computer to see.

Are you referring to the Internet is slowing down? If so then open Internet Explorer and go to Tools, Internet Options, General tab and under the Temporary Internet Files click on the button that says "Delete files" and it will clear them out. If there are over 10,000 of them then you will have to click the button again once it finishes with the first 10,000.
To prevent it from filling up again then in IE Tools go to the Advanced tab, scroll down under the Security section and place a check next to Empty temporary internet files folder when browser is closed. Click Apply and Ok.

Thanks HTH for answering both of my posts. Your info. is much appreciated. I'd still like to know how to delete photos from the hard drive. Any suggestions?

In between the left Ctrl keyand the left Alt key is the Windows key.
Hit it and the letter F to bring up the Find dialog box.

In the 'Named' box type in *.jpg and select C: drive to look in.

On mine it found 4,807 .jpg files. They are all pictures and I can tell what they are by their name or the folder that they are showing in.

You can do the same for *.bmp. (I have 2,951 of those)

Many of the image files are parts of programs that I want to keep and many are digital photgraphs that I placed on the hard drive.

Notice which folder contains the most images and then navigate to that folder within Explorer by Right clicking on My Computer and select Explore.

Once into the folder go to View and select 'As web page'.
Maximize the screen.
Then when you wave over anyone of the files it will display a thumbnail view of the image in the left hand pane.

To delete one you can right click on it and select Delete or
You can hold down the Ctrl key and single click on one and then another and another and so on until you have as many selected as you want and then right click on any one of them and select delete.

They will go into your recycle bin using this method.
