Here's my story....
I had a PC with windows 98 on it and my brother screwed it up really bad. I finally got my mother to spring for a new PC and I need to know is there a way to secure my PC and have the system ask for a password before it will load operating system ?

Any of the nt-based operating systems will do this (NT4, 2000, XP). During setup there will be an option that asks if you assume that only one person is signed on all the time or if others must log on. Indicate that others must log on. Even if you don't actually create an acount for anyone but yourself, this will require that a user log on and secure your system.

Also some bios' provide password protection to get past the POST. But be careful - if you use this feature and forget your password you may be in trouble.

Thaks.
I'll keep that in mind. I'll try Josh's suggestion first as not to take a chance of forgetting P/W and not being able to boot.
Thanks !
Kevin
