Hi Guys, I have yet another problem, I have a machine on the network with win2k on it, and somebody has put in the computer ID as something we dont want on the network, but, when I try to change it, I get a pop up screen asking me for the login and password of somebody who is allowed to change the computer name? Hence, nobody knows anything about this?
ANy help will be greatly appreciated

Thanks Paul.

It is the domain controller asking for the logon account and password for an account with administrative privileges on the domain controller machine.

The computer's account on the domain controller is being changed and even if you are an admin on the box in question, you may not be admin on the controller machine. So it is asking you to verify that you are someone who has permission to be modifying accounts on the controller.

Reading back over this I see that I need to say 'controller' a few more times. Controller, controller, controller, controller, controller. There.
