I recently had a problem with some burning software that my CDburner uses. I was getting a blue stop screen and the computer would restart on its own every time I used the program. So I uninstalled it and the CDburner seems to be alright now. However, at the very same time the MSN stopped working. It no longer signs me in automatically and it just sits there in the task bar with the red 'x' over it. Even when I click on the 'sign in' option it won't go. I've checked the password (it's correct), I looked in the services page to see that the service is running (it is), but I have no clue as to why it's shut down.
I also checked to see if the LAN was still good (it is), and other programs like Edonkey, etc can still get connected...
Can anyone help me out here?

Have you got any Remote Access software running? VPN Software? Is a firewall running?
Try checking all these as I have seen it happen many times - sometimes these services can prevent normal network/internet activity.

Hope this helps...

actually, I was able to sign in to MSN when I changed the 'options' choice of the tools menu and then specified a http proxy to use to connect on port 80. I would leave it like this but it won't let me take away the 'communication service account' in the accounts tab and it says that it can't sign in every time I open MSN. This is merely an annoyance at the moment because I can get to my hotmail now. I just can't make that damn message dissapear.
