Just wondering if anyone has played with this one yet!

http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/spywareblaster.html

SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.

By setting a "kill bit" for spyware ActiveX controls, SpywareBlaster can prevent the installation of any spyware ActiveX controls from a webpage. It does this while not interfering with "friendly" ActiveX controls - so your browser can work correctly and you can have peace of mind!

You won't get any more annoying "Yes/No" boxes popped up, asking you to install a spyware ActiveX control (which can increasingly be found in pop-up ads!). In fact, Internet Explorer will never even download or run the spyware ActiveX control!

In addition, SpywareBlaster can prevent many of these spyware ActiveX controls from running, even if they are already installed on your system.*

The newest SpywareBlaster version can even block spyware/tracking cookies!
And SpywareBlaster does not need to be running in the background to provide this protection!

The SpywareBlaster database contains information on these known spyware Active-X controls. Make sure you run the Check For Updates feature frequently to get the latest database! (And make sure you check the new items to protect your system against them!)

Quote I saw on another forum...
I am always looking for some better protection like a good man should...

Thanks

At the recommendation of Mosaic I installed both SpywareBlaster and SpywareGuard (both from javacool) and have been delighted with both.

Ok! It must be ok if Mosaic says so...

I installed the program cause after I posted this here I found the Spyblaster forum over at DSLreports...

So I'm giving it a shot....

I'm also running POP-Up-Cop with Adshield and IeSpy list,,, And Outpost firewall ... We will see if it plays nice with these...

Thanks

SG seems to use about 4,000K on the system I'm at right now. Not much at all.

Hi I am using Spyware Blaster and it seems to be doing the job. I also have Spy Bot S&D, was wondering if I should use Pest Scan also.

thanks

Hey Mac,
>SpywareBlaster doesn't scan and clean for spyware - it prevents it from ever being installed.

I'm using Spybot and enabling "Immunize" in the Main Menu will auto-block all known Sypware/Adware (as long as you keep up-date detections on a weekly basis) has worked VERY well for me.

yeah, immunize does that, but spywareblaster blocks more things.

even Spybot recomends downloading it, read carefully ner the immunize now button in Spybot, it says something like "if you want more control, get spyware blster" or sometihg like that, it isnt installed on this pc, so cant tell exactly

I used to love spybot, until one day I had to use ad-aware to get rid of the spy. I found ad-aware more reliable. Of course, by putting spyware blaster wont hurt, but I still have no idea it works. my ad-aware still finds some tracking cookies once in a while...
