Remove start button (W2K)

Is there a way with the registry to block access to the start button for only certain users, i.e. administrators would have access when they logon as an administrator, but standard users would not have access to it.

I think start button is so essential part of Windows GUI that there si no official way to disble it for certain users.

No, but you can remove certain functions, such as "Search" and "Run" from certain users' start button.
