View Full Version : IE auto_complete settings reconfiguring themselves (??) (W2K)

The situation is this:

I'd like to have auto-complete fully disabled. Forms, web addresses, passwords, the works. I've gone into the registry and made the needed changes (as well as using the front-end Tools/Options/Content). So long as the browser window remains open, the settings stay in place.

As soon as I close any/all open browsers and restart IE, all my auto-complete settings are right back to "on" (and "0" for the FormSuggest keys).

I've even gone as far as deleting the auto_complete keys and after restarting IE, they are right back in place, with everything set to 'on' again.

I now have a .reg file that I just click whenever starting IE that sets all my autocomplete settings to off without having to hit the various menus, but that's so annoying.

Any ideas as to why these config changes aren't being kept in place?

Please disregard this post. I've now figured out what was happening.

This copy of IE that I work with is in a corporate environment and in order to keep every version running "stock", auto config scripts are being used that are processed from a remote server.

Buried down at the bottom of this config.ins script is a list of .inf files that reside on the local PC. These .inf files are filled with various registry entries, so each time IE is restarted, everything is reset back to default values, thus blowing away any manual changes to settings like auto_complete.
