start up (W98)

Just recently on every new start up my computer reports that one or more of my hard drives may have developed bad sectors and automaticaly runs a thorough scandisk, on completion of the scan no bad sectors or problems are found, how can I correct this situation.

Does your system have issues shutting down,or do you shut it off by just cutting the power and not shutting it down the normal way?
That will cause it to run scandisk.

But, just to make sure, I'd go to the manufacturers website and download their utilities and run a check on your drive(s) with that. Their programs are better designed to detect the signs of a possible failing drive.
