I have Win98 1st Edition. Half the time, I'd guess, my computer hangs up when I have clicked for either shutdown or for restart. Ctrl+Alt+Delete has no effect. I have to hit the power button on the tower. Any help appreciated.

You could try going to Start, Run, msconfig. On the General tab and near the bottom hit the Advanced button. From there you can add a check next to "Disable Fast Shutdown", Click Apply and Ok.

Thank you Nana.
I do not deserve the distinguished title but I have earned it's label.

Report_2,
What do you mean you <font color=blue>"do not deserve the distinguished title"</font color=blue>? You most certainly do!
You have extensive computer knowledge which you're willing to take the time & trouble to share with other members. In my books, that's deserving of the title!

My dictionary defines guru as:
"A recognized leader in some field or of some movement"
Winguides defines it as &gt;1,000 posts.

At work among 140 office workers I am a leader when it comes to computers. At Winguides I know much less.

At Winguides I help out when I can. (My original bookmark still reads as Regedit.com)
I have the 1,000 posts and have earned the title.
