How can I change the number of the COM in windows 98 for example change COM5 to be COM 2 ?

What's your goal ? If you want to free up an irq head off to device manager and expand the ports section double click on com1 or 2 and disable it. This will free up an irq. reboot. windows will re-assign all the irq's appropriately.
