Is there a registry key that sets the default FILE-OPEN directory in Notepad, or Wordpad? MS Word lets you change it from within the program.

Also, is there a key that will cause the program to remember the last directory opened when another file is opened? It seems that the default directory is always used.

No there isn't. I have looked long and hard at this to no avail.

Nope--Notepad is a pretty low-powered app that does not make use of ActiveX.

Create a shortcut, and put the folder where you want to start in the "start in" field
