I have been having shut down problems between a symantec product Ccapp.exe which is part of NIS and two other startup programs? They are [NVIEW Rundll32.exenview.dll,nViewLoadHook], and [MSMSGS "C:\Program files\Messenger\msmsgs.exe"/background]
I would like to know what NVIEW and MSMSGS programs do and can I safely leave them off the startup menu permanently? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

nView is nVidia's multi-monitor support program for configuring your system to use more than one monitor. This can be disabled with no problems.
MSMSGS is Windows Messenger. (Not to be confused with MSN messenger.) It's window's built-in spam receiver. This can also be disabled with no problems. You can either disable it in Services or go to grc.com and download that program, and it will disable it for you.

Howdy!
Another way to disable startup programs is: START > RUN > type in (msconfig) without the quotation marks & then click OK. From there click on the STARTUP tab & uncheck what you want to disable & then click APPLY at the bottom right of the window. You will get a message about restarting your PC so the changes will take effect. Click YES if you're thru. /images/forums/icons/wink.gif

Thanks, HappyHillbilly.
I knew i was forgetting to mention something, and of course it was something obvious. /images/forums/icons/tongue.gif
Something to add to that too.
Don't forget to check "Don't display this message, or start msconfig when windows starts" in the prompt that you'll get when you reboot after making the changes in msconfig, otherwise you'll get that prompt again the next time windows starts. Even if you haven't used msconfig to make any changes to your startup.
Always glad to help!
