I recently discovered in middle of gaming that Microsoft Intellimouse has autoupdate feature. Argh! I didn't like it so I searched way to disable it. So I tried this. At least the mouse software stopped to interrupt my games.
Locate registry key "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Control Panel\Microsoft Input Devices\Mouse\AutoUpdate". Add new value "AutoUpdateEnabled" with type REG_DWORD and give it to value 0. I also added same setting to "HKEY_USERS\.Default\...".
I don't know which versions of Intellipoint software support it. It might require version above 4.0.
Test for yourself if your Intellipoint software tries to upgrade itself.
