IE6 not being recognised

Although I have IE6 installed and reinstalled it a few times, it doesn't function. When I try to install other programs, I frequently get a "cannot proceed, this program reuires IE5 or later..." message. It seems my system isn't recognising it. Help?

Based on this problem and the one in your last post regarding regedit I would do the following:

1. Do a complete virus scan of the system. A free online scan is available here:

3. Download hijack this and run it on the system.
