On W2k Server, I was able to successfully use RAMDISK.sys to create a virtual drive on my system. I recently upgraded to W2k3 server and the Ramdisk no longer appears as a virtual drive. The registry setting is still in place and doesn't seem to cause any obvious errors on the system.
Anyone know how to use a RAM-based disk in Windows 2003? I've not found any documentation (surprise) that states that it's not available in 2k3 or information on how to tweak the settings to work.
For the record, I'm primarily interested in having a RAM drive so that I can safely store webcam images captured every 15 seconds. My thought is that it's better to read/write that data to Ram rather than burning a hole on the hard drive.
I mention this because if you can think of other alternatives to the ramdrive, I'm all ears!
Thanks!
