I think I might have discovered the cause of my networking problems on the client PC, but I don't know how to fix it. (both computers have Windows 2000 Professional)

It appears on the client PC - Dell laptop, it's missing the Network Identification Wizard from the System Properties > (Network Identification tab), since it's greyed out. Problem is, I don't know how to enable it or install it. I already looked in Add/Remove Programs > Add or Remove Windows Components, and couldn't find it there. I checked against that of my server PC and everything matches up. My server PC isn't missing this item.

My theory is, it's this missing or disabled component that's preventing the laptop (client PC) from file or printer sharing with my server PC, and explains the "Workgroup not present..." errors I got on the laptop's My Network Places. I am able to access the laptop from the Server PC but not visa- versa.

Right now, the problem is I do not know how to
enable or install this missing item, and Windows Help has not been of any help.

I fixed my first problem by reinstalling Client for Microsoft windows, but now I'm having a new problem:

I an unable to get Microsoft ICS to work on a HomePNA phoneline network. File sharing is working fine, so the network is otherwise working fine.

What settings do I want to choose in MSIE, Eudora and Norton Live Update?

In MSIE > Tools > Internet Options > Connections tab, all of the settings are greyed out, and clicking the Add button gets an error: "Cannot load Remote Access Manager service Error 711: The Remote Access Manager could not start" When I checked in the Event Log I found that both Remove Auto Access Manager and Remove Auto Access Manager were set to Manual and when I attempted to start them, I got this error message: "Could not start the Remove Access Manager service on local computer Error 1068: The dependency service or group failed to start"

Upon tracing the source of these errors, they all point to C:\WINNT\System32\svchost.ext -k netsvcs

If this file is corrupted, how do I reinstall it?

Also, is Microsoft ICS compatible with Eudora for email, and Norton Live Update?

I used ICS here at home for a while. I had no problems updating Norton's Systemworks. Don't know about Eudora I have never used it. I found the easiest way to fix problems with ICS was to uninstall it and then start over again.
