The search function in help and support won't work (WXP-Home)

I ran a registry cleaner and it's taken out the search function out of help and support. Someone kindly sent me a script file to repair the registry entries. Unfortunately this has not worked.

I restored the PC to a much earlier date (when the search was OK) and compared the registry entries that the script file made. All the entries were identical. My conclusion is that the fault lies much deeper.

Any ideas anybody ???

Is everything working okay now? If so, I wouldn't worry about anything (and uninstall reg cleaner). The script probably didn't install for some reason, that's all. Stuff happens /images/forums/icons/smile.gif

Everything seems OK. It's just that I'm still a bit new to XP and found the help and support search facility quite useful. I'll live without it or buy a book !

I misunderstood - I thought you got it working again. Is this the script you tried (below)? Either way, I suggest downloading & running it (again?).

This is the script I tried. The help and support does work it's only the search function that seems dead. Anything I enter in to seach draws a complete blank. It asks me to browse the search results, but the search results are blank.

Any further ideas welcomed !

Let me suggest you take a look at a review I did on Rocket Retriever in the "Software Recommendations" forum here. It's a wonderful replacement for Windows Search.
