baffling problem (W2K)

Blues screen appears when I boot up the computer. then, if I attach the CD-ROM the blue screen vanishes. So, I go to device manager, uninstall the cd-rom assuming that in the next boot up, the blue screen wont pop up. But still, it did. Even if I uninstalled the cd-rom previously. Need help, any input is appreciated. thanks.

Are there any messages on the blue screen? If so, can you let us know what they are please. Also, how long has this been going on for? Have your recently changed the configuration or installed new hardware or software?

I solved the problem paul. thanks for replying to my question. The problematic unit was the newly imaged cpu. The funny thing is that the specs of the unit before it was imaged and the current unit is practically the same. the only difference was the placement of the bus wire on the hardisk.
