To All on WinGuides Discussion Forum:

I am working on a client's network and I have been getting some troublesome results when saving files over the network. When a file is saved over the network, the datestamp saves the file on March 14 or March 15, 2000. This problem has occurred while I was changing the design of an Access database table and when an application I had written saved changes to an ESRI ArcView shapefile. The computers I was working had the correct date and time of June 9, 2003.

Could this possibly be a problem with the network server and its internal clock? Any help or hints on this topic would be greatly appreciated. Please let me know if you need additional information about the problem in order to devise a solution. Thanks in advance.

I have seen exactly that same thing and the server was WinNT4. The problem was the server not holding the date/time settings.

How did you solve this problem with the incorrect datestamp when saving files over the network in WindowsNT?

Just had to verify the date/time setting on the server, in our case it was a bad battery socket on the motherboard that wouldn't let the BIOS hold the setting.
