My system is running Windows XP, has 2 accouints defined and connected to the internet via cable. I would like to know if it is possible to restrict internet access on one of the user(kid) in my system without affecting the other user(parents). I've read a thread but it is for Win 95/98/ME and doesn't mention more than one user in one machine. Is the discussion in the following thread applicable to me? If you have a better idea I would really appreciate it. thank you

That thread looks more to be to "Turn off" or "Turn on" the option to be able to use the 'net. If you want to restrict internet access for a kid (I assume from such things as [censored], hacking software, etc.), there are programs you can buy to filter, block, and restrict internet access to certain types of sites. Firewalls kind of can, but you might be looking for something like Net Nanny, or something like that.
Umm...Where's the "Any" key??

That thread look more like a way to "Turn off" and "Turn on" internet access for that computer. If you want to just restrict a kid from accessing certain sites (we all know which kinds), there are programs you can buy that can do that. You might look into something like Net Nanny, or programs similar to it.
Umm...Where's the "Any" key??

That's exactly what I want to do. "Turn off" internet access on kid's account. Sorry for the wrong choice of word. The reason is that the PC is always on and we have "always on" connection to the net and I just want to monitor the kid's online time and of course the sites. If she wants to play on the computer she can just logon using the kid's account but if she wants to connect to the internet she will have to ask somebody who knows the password to the parent's account.
thanks again

Then going by what that other thread was suggesting, would be the more efficient choice. (And it also saves you money too!)
Like they always warn though: Back up the Registry before making any changes to it. They'll have the method posted somewhere here I'm sure.
Glad to be of help.

It just refers to the old joke...that's all. Looking for a key with "Any" written on it...

that thread only shows how to block browsing., but not online games like counter-strike or age of empire. How do you block totaly a user's internet connection using logon script/.reg file?
