Hello Everyone: If i uncheck the "Hibernation box" in my xp home, it does not just disable it, it removes the file completely and the only way to get it back is to use System Restore Point! Now i think this only happens on home and maybe pro, (Preinstalled) but what i want to know, is there anyway to put this file back after unchecking it and removing it? Its called(i believe) the "hiberfil.sys" and its suppose to be in the windows C directory, (even though i could not find it there). HP said i would have to do a Non-Destructive system recovery, but i dont want to do that, i would have to restore all my tweaks etc!Anyone know how to restore this file, if it has been removed? Thanks Tom

I have XP pro and when you uncheck the enable hibernation box and click apply the hiberfil.sys is deleted. When you go back to control panel and check the box and re-apply then the file is recreated.
This should be the same in XP home.

No, that is my problem, it will not stay re-checked in preinstalled xp home, if you uncheck it, it is deleted and you cannot get it back unless like i say a system restore point! But i want to be able to use the registry and manually put that file back and restore it, if i have to! Maybe, you or some else might know how to do this? Thanks Tom
