first, where can this tweakui be found and downloaded?
here are my isues...first, there is a thing that says "openme not responding" this will not allow me to access a couple icons on the desktop until i clear it from the close program list.
next, the password/user window comes up at every instance when i turn it on...any advice there?
lastly, how does a person get rid of programs in the add and remove programs section of the control panel if these programs have been already removed?

First, TweakUI 1.33 is at http://www.winguides.com/software/display.php/22/ (http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp>http://www.microsoft.com/ntworkstation/downloads/PowerToys/Networking/NTTweakUI.asp</a>).
Third, that is a normal action, what do you wish to do with it? If you want to not see that screen, it can be accomplished but it's possible other password actions will be done away with and have to be re-established.
Last, TweakUI has a feature that can help with the Add/Remove Programs list.
Don't have an answer for the second part just yet.

With regard to your openme problem, with updated virus definitions run a full system virus check

i do have a few things that are wrong, but it seems as though everything is fine once i clear out those things.
everything works great after that!
i guess i was trying to have a perfect system--and that ain't gonna happen.

Kinda like marriage and dealing with our spouses, huh? Or work and our co-workers.

I quote the following solution :
See MS KB 152104 - "How to Prevent a Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows Me
Logon Prompt at Startup" (http://support.microsoft.com?kbid=152104).
Regards to : Mike Maltby MS-MVP mcmaltby@hotmail.com for providing this hint
that helped me to solve a problem similar to yours.
