Im attempting to install something, however, the program says when trying to install:
Error opening file for writing:
"C:\WINDOWS\System32\OLEAUT32.DLL

and all this "hit abort installation" or all that other stuff. I've tried to use the regvsr32.exe and Ive tried the START menu\RUN and typed SFC.
My problem with both of these is that the regvsr32.exe wont open and I dont know how to get this thing into DOS mode and the SFC program will not open what so ever, it starts but then dissapears. I dont think its a problem with this computer just yet because its brand new, any help would be great, im up for all ideas, thank you.

Are you typing sfc /scannow at a command prompt ?

RE: "and I dont know how to get this thing into DOS mode"

There is no DOS mode in WinXP as we all know/knew it in Win95/98. The only hint of DOS is the Command Prompt window .

If the hard drive is formatted NTFS, not even a Win9x/ME/DOS boot disk can access it.

just tried the SFC /scannow but there's nothing that happened. So now I'm kind of in the dark once again. Are there any programs that can be downloaded to do this stuff for you easier or is that a no, because Ive searched for this stuff and have come up empty handed, however I didn't do any excessive searching for it ;-D

In any case, thank you for pointing these out to me
