I have an AMD athlon 2.1XP+ Processor, it is set to that in the bios. When i right click on my computer and go to properties it says:
AMD Athlon(TM) XP2100+
1.73GHZ
768MB RAM
My question is, why does it say 1.73 ghz? Is it running at 1.73 ghz or 2.1GHZ?
My main reason for wanting to know is, i have been playing games and it is noticeably choppy at certain points. (I have a geforce 4 ti4200)

Hi P_Seddon
Your AMD XP 2.1 is the model number, not the processor speed. For example my XP 2000 is a 1.67 ghz and my Dad's AMD1600 is a 1.4 ghz.
Hope this helps

Jase is correct. Here's an article that provides a table of model numbers and their standard operating frequency.

If I may add? The model numbers, i.e. XP2100+, or XP2400+ are merely PR's otherwise known as Performance Ratings. Some of the actual speeds are listed in the link provided by Andy-S but they're rated at the model numbers provided by AMD.
Hope this helps.
