View Full Version : File Named " ~ " in my C:\Drive (W98)

Hi there I've been getting a file in my c:\ drive it has the shortest name I've ever seen here's the name ~ this file is 182kb & I've deleted it a few times but the next day I look & its back again...... I've done the usual scan with Ad Aware & Spybot S&D Can anyone help me solve this problem please . . .

I assume you've scanned for viruses too?
From my experience, (and others may correct me if I'm wrong) most any file that begins with a ~ is usually a temporary file generated by some program. (God knows which)
You could try opening the file with notepad or wordpad. Look around inside it and it might give you a clue as to which program made or what it may be associated with.

Apparently this is caused by a bug in a recent MS patch to Outlook/Outlook Express
