Hi, hope someone can render some help for me...

I have been trying methods, been to lots of web pages, test sorts of programs, but yet i haven't been able to find a solution for myself.

Here's my suitation ... (pls bear wif my poor language and long-winded-ness)

My desktop is clustered with lots of things
-Downloads, Files, Shortcuts
Ok, to clean up the unsightly mess, sort them and place them in folders
For example, i copy all shortcuts relating to music into the music folder,
internet programs into Internet, others are photo, utilities, documents....

ok, here's the problem, when i wanna open the shortcuts, i first open the folder, then i open the shortcut. simple huh... but i feel that there should be a more convenient way...
If any of you have use BeOS you know what i mean, you right-click on the folder, then you you can sort of view the directory tree, with its files and contents to be run or open...

So i go try out lots of things... programs, registry edits, so on.. but i still cant find something that hits my needs... i feel im wasting lots of time trying to do something that waste less time, so i just hoping someone who had the same situation wif me can help me in this...

the closest thing i come across is the internet explorer quick launch. Add the desktop, find that toolbar, and u can expand the desktop and its subdirectories and files, and access files easily ... another example i can think of is using ICQ... when u right click on a file or folder and u can send to anyone online.... therefore i believe that theres this something that will be working for my case...

some possible methods... 1. changing windows default shell... like geoshellx.. its seems unstable to me and needs me to adjust to a different environment... 2. Create a program ... Maybe... but dont think im good at that and have no idea to where i be starting... (delphi, visual c, basic? arr i know nuts about them..) 3. Registry? Yup i tried the guide in win guides to add a moveto and copy to, but i really dun know about doing those reg edits for this suitution... 4. surely somethings i missed out...

Yeh... sorry for this whole lots of messy typing and rushing... thanks in advance if you can find a solution to this, Thanks a lot...

I used to have the same mess but I have been using Traybar for a couple of years now. It puts one icon in the tray area next to the clock and you can add folders and/or applications, create and name/rename folders into which you can add your shortcuts. You can even send email from the builtin email application. I have QuickMenu also but don't have a link but I can send it. It adds a right click menu into which you can add shortcuts.

I have two BeOS partitions; one with BeOS 5.3 and the other has PhospurOS (modified Dano distro)

hmmm...
thanks for the reply, theelf.

however, i tried the program, although its does have some nice features... i doesnt seem to get the hang of it...

hmm .. im currently looking at http://www.webattack.com/Freeware/system/fwtoolbars.shtml perphaps there are some proggy already there which meets my needs....

yar btw i did a search on PhospurOS but i dont seem to get any hits. i did read of dano... but not PhospurOS...

yup... guess i ought to be more organise... deal to my complex thinking(not to boost, but i think its a bad thing for me) my PIII500 is running 2 HDD totaling 50Gb, having a total of 11 fat32, 1 NTFS partitions, virtual cd-roms drives, +4 more drives from my mulitple-usb-card-reader, having few OS (Xp,98,beos5.03,redhatlinux)... haiZ... needa do some clean up....

Maybe move these folders from C:\windows\Desktop\ to c:\windows\start menu\

This will put the folders at the top of the start menu and they will have fly-out menus of all the contents. Provided they are true folders and not shortcuts to folders.
