In WindowsME, when I open up Windows Explorer it shows My Computer, Recycle Bin and My Documents folder by default BUT it auto opens My Documents folder and expands to show all folders inside it. Can I disable that? I just want to fire up Windows Explorer and it show My Computer, Recycle Bin and My Documents (without it expanding that folder automatically and showing its contents).

I am sure there is another way to do what you want but the way I normally use explorer to get around this is to right click on my computer, then select Explorer from the drop down menu. hope this helps. I am sure someone else knows a better way.

you can modify the windows explorer shortcut to open the path you want, just add /n,/e, c:\
to do this right-click on the shortcut and choose properties, on "target" add "/n,/e, c:\" without the "s
you can modify the "c:\" part to open any location you want.
note: i have used this on win98 &win2k, i guess it should work on ME too but if it isnt, just remove the part you added.
hope this helps

Hi,
You can do this and much more by :
Start, Settings, Task Bar and Start Menu
Then check or uncheck required properties in the box titled Start Menu and Task Bar.
