How can the Start menu be disabled in win9x/NT. i mean like if u click on it then nothing pops up and instead the "Shut down dialog box" comes. thanks in advance.

I don't believe it can--it's hard-coded into explorer.

hi there. yeah i also used to think it was hard coded. but believe it or not IHAVE SEEN IT WITH MY OWN EYES. in fact the day i saw it i really felt stupid that how come i did not know about it. anyway it is possible. i am myself looking for it. if i find out i'll let u know. thanks for looking and responding to my question.

jstolz is right, it can't be done without 3rd party software.

I know you can disable it using "winboost 2000". Isn't that prog just changing the registry?
