The bookstore--Computer, Windows, Registry.

HERE... is a good place to start. Beware the pitfalls of posting Q's already answered ! :-D
You will get advice, help and brilliant 'fixes' abundant if you look... pay attention to the 'wizards' of the reg!
Nick :-)
P.S. I am not in the elite class... I seem to clean up the 'middle problem area', but Mr's Jstolz, Reghakr & POBrien are the blowing winds of enlightenment. Stick with them, and you will be OK.

Nick, you're entirely too modest... and you have a lot of good solutions that obviously come from an extensive working knowledge of Win.
BUT in this case, I REALLY think that a beginner would learn things much quicker, and less haphazardly by perusing a book on the subject. THEN he can fill in the gaps here. I think there's a real danger of fiddling without at least SOME knowledge of the registry.

Thanks for the nod Nick!!! It's much appreciated. Just for the record, I have been posting for quite awhile now. I didn't register until Simon, JS and Paul decided it was time too do so. If you read far back into the postings and see a signature "enjoy" then you know it was me.
JS is right, you are too modest. Your insight is always informative and much appreciated.
Tom-2-ak, remember one thing with the registry. BACK IT UP before making any and I mean any changes.
Thanks again!
enjoy :)

I started with Win 95 Registry for Dummies, but here is a good one:
Win98 Registry Little Black Book ISBN 1-57610-294 -7 Suggested Retail $29.95
Published by Coriolis www.coriolis.com
Very Informative
BTW, I shouldn't do this, but you lot are welcome to pop-in here (a bit of light relief from here!).

Thanks, Nick
You do AOK yourself, I've noticed posts you've answered that I didn't have a clue.
As for the books, try your local Public Library. You'd be suprised at the amount of computer books.
And you can request that a book be added to the library's catalog. All you have to do is ask.
Hey, I would never have known this untill I got hired in the computer room.
