Hi! I have just purchased an external Hard Drive (40GB, USB2, Firewire). What do you think is the BEST way to back up data into this device? For now, I have just dragged and dropped copies of all my My Documents files and folders to the external drive. My Windows 2000 also has a backup program (Microsoft Windows Backup ver5). I have heard about Norton Ghost etc too.

Please share your suggestions. Thanks!

I use PartitionSaving(freeware) which can be run from a bootable floppy. I have even put in mouse and CD drivers. Althoughh it can't write to a CD it can read and restore from one. It can save a partition in a compressed format. I saved my Win98 and Win2K in compressed format and burned burned them to a CD which is bootable using the bootable floppy containing PartitionSaving along with the mouse driver and CD driver. Its not as hard to do as one might think
