Skip #3 for Win2000, put Win2000 on #1 and WinNT4 on #2. Dump the 14.4 modem on 1 for the 56Kbps modem on 3 [get a PCI modem if you ever want WinXP].
I had a AMD K6-2/400 with NT4 and worked great, 2GB DOS partition as C and D was 6GB NTFS. Put the LCD panel monitor on 1 and the 14" on 2.
Basically, it's put the best peripherals/cards on the newest/fasted computer.

I'd like to amend your suggestion if I might.
I put Win2K on my AMD 333 K6-2. With 256MB of RAM it made a machine I was ready to get rid of like a new one again. It runs so nice it is still my primary system at home.
I'm with Bert on scavenging parts from #3. I might even take the VooDoo from 3 and put it in #2. I use the VooDoo3 in my AMD333 system I mentioned and it works great. Even play some 3d games from time to time, which is another reason to use Win2K instead of NT4. A little more flexibility.

JD, I can go along with that. My Win2000 is on an AMD K6-2/333MHz notebook with a 20GB drive and 160MB RAM.

I also use it on a Pentium II 266 with 288MB RAM. Completely stable and Win2K doesn't seem to be any more of a load than it is on my slightly faster machines.
Hmmm. MS says minimum is a 133. I wonder if the 486 would take it? Even if it wasn't practical I'd kinda be interested in what happens.

Something else to consider is that NT4 does not support USB.

Oooo, I forgot about that. That's a biggie these days ain't it?
I like NT OK because its fairly secure and stable as a mountain, but you just can't beat the flexibility of Win2K (withing the MS family of OS's anyway). JMHO.
