Hi,
I have heard that it is possible to speed up the boot process by preventing the Windows98 logo from being displayed each time Windows is loaded. Has anyone done this?
I have Windows98 Original Release.
Thank you,

Here is a little more info--
I thought that the way to disable the splash screen was to go into the msdos.sys file and change the value of 'logo' to 0 instead of 1. Sounds fine, but when I looked at the msdos.sys, the word 'logo' was not there at all. I wonder if the above tweak only works for Win95. Is there another way to disable the splash screen?
Thanks again,

The original question was a double-header and asked if suppressing the logo at boot-up speeds up the boot process. My experience is that it doesn't (other than the miniscule time it takes to load a bmp disguised as a sys file), and the logo is simply shown while the rest of Win loads.
More important might be checking the value of BootMenuDelay, or the amount of seconds that the puter pauses waiting for an F8 to display the Startup Menu. I have mine set to 2.

Thanks, it worked.
There is no bootdelay listed in my MSDOS.SYS. I assume that I would just add it to the options like I did with the logo. I am not too concerned with speeding it up much though, because it really does not take that long. Thank you for all of your help.
