Just recently went off of Novell and are now on W2K. The work stations have become extremely slow. But not all of them. Desktop icons hang for about 30 seconds when you try to right mouse click and get to properties. Network files are slow to access, local applications loaded on harddrive are slow????? Puzzled. Anyone have any ideas.

Hello.
Can you say which PC do you use? How much memory in your computers? Versions of ServicePacks?

I'm experiencing a similar problem...when I right click on some icons it takes about 15 to 25 seconds for the
menu to display. Some icons are quick. That is the only performance issue I have. I have noticed that
whenever there is a slow response to right clicking on an icon, there is activity on my ethernet connection that I cannot explain.
I run W2K pro with SP4. I don't know when this problem started but I have installed the W2K
version of fix 811493. This fix has caused serious performance issues with XP SP1. Because I didn't
discover this problem until long after I installed the hotfix, I can't deinstall this fix becuase I removed the
uninstall files. Any thoughts on that? I have a 1ghz P3 with 512 meg ram.
