HELP! IE 6 NOW ONLY SAVES IMAGES AS "untitled.bmp"! (W2K)

PLEASE HELP IF YOU CAN! Started last week: any image I attempt to save off a page in IE 6.01 defaults to "untitled.bmp" -- I can manually rename it fine (with a correct extension), but IE is no longer taking the image name off the web page (???) -- I thought it had something to do with Directx 9.0a maybe, but I couldnt recreate this on another system........ so I doubt it is DX's fault..... I also removed the IE6 SP1, then reinstalled -- no effect.....

ANY IDEAS???

Normally emptying your Temporary Internet Files folder will cure this type of problem. That's the first step, anyway.
